LinkedIn can sometimes be overlooked as a lead-generating platform. Most of us think of LinkedIn as the social media platform where you can showcase your professional life. However, as a small business owner, it can be an excellent tool to attract new leads. Here are five ways you can use LinkedIn to generate leads.
Have a Complete Profile
Your LinkedIn profile should be completely filled out. Include details about your previous workplaces and what you did in those positions. If you have a website, make sure it is listed on your profile along with any social media links related to your business. Use a professional headshot and include any client testimonials, letters of recommendation, or past presentations that showcase your work. You will also want to include an eye-catching headline that will entice potential followers to dive deeper into your profile.
Make Connections
When you want to connect with someone on LinkedIn, always include a message before sending the request. Let them know who you are and why you are looking to connect. Be thoughtful in your message; otherwise, you could come across as being spammy, and we have all gotten those messages before.
Participate in Groups
Not only does LinkedIn have profiles, but it also has groups you can join! Join groups that are relevant to your business. Most importantly, take part in the conversations happening in the group. Share your expertise on a subject or start a discussion of your own! You will be sure to attract new connections by building trust and new relationships.
Create Your Own Group
In addition to being active in industry-related LinkedIn groups, you also have the opportunity to create your own group. By creating your own group, you can invite new members, start daily conversations and even send email newsletters to your members. By creating a group of your own, you have the power to become the go-to resource on the product or service you sell.
Paid Advertising
Just like every other social media platform, you can also create paid ads on LinkedIn. Paid advertising allows you to target potential new leads through various demographics such as location, industry, and job level status. LinkedIn paid advertising can be a little pricier than some of the other social media platforms. Still, I believe you will get more qualified leads, especially if you are selling business-to-business.
Staying active on LinkedIn is just another great way to make connections and discover more leads!
