When it comes to Instagram, are you familiar with the different types of profiles you can have? There are three types of Instagram profiles: personal, creator and business. While all three do the primary activities, each one offers different aspects to improve your experience.

Personal
If you want to use Instagram just for fun with no strategy, then a personal profile is exactly what you want. This option is perfect for people who are looking to share pictures with their friends and family. With a personal profile, you have the option to make your account public or private. The personal profile still has all the features like stories and IGTV. With a personal profile, you can also connect your account to multiple Facebook pages or no Facebook page at all – it’s your choice!

A personal profile is not something you want to use if you have a marketing strategy and want to see your insights and analytics. A personal profile setting does not provide you with this information.

Creator
The creator profile is one of Instagram’s newest profiles. The creator profile is best for someone who is a public figure or influencer. Instagram created this profile to separate people who are using it for personal use from people who are using it for a purpose such as businesses reasons or influencing. With the creator profile, you still get all the same basic features as you do with a personal profile, but you also get a few more perks to help you get noticed. With the creator profile, you can select your category of creator. You are also able to manage and create promotions on Instagram and connect them to Facebook. The creator profile also gives you insights and analytics about your account, how well you perform, and your audience. Once you hit 10,000 followers, you can add links to your Instagram stories.

The creator profile also allows you to set up quick replies and direct message filters to manage any direct messages sent to you. If you want to request verification (that little blue checkmark next to your profile name), you have that option, too. This helps connect with your fans even more. You will also get access to the creator studio desktop if you have a creator profile.

Business
If you are looking to get the most features out of your Instagram, then the business profile is the best choice. A business profile is another touchpoint for your customers and another way they can reach out to you. The business profile has all the same features as a creator profile, with a few added perks. The Instagram business profile allows you to display your contact information on your profile so customers can contact you quickly. You also have the advantage of running ads with a business account. If you are selling items, you can use the profile’s Instagram shopping tool, which allows you to tag products in your post.

Instagram gives you plenty of options regarding how you want to be seen. If you want to be a little more private on the platform, then the personal profile would be best for you. If you want to get the word out about who you are and what you are selling, then a creator or business profile would work best for you. The best part is you get to choose!
